Hollywood Theater Portland OR resized 600

The Hollywood Theater in Portland, OR turned to Dave Yoast of Amramp Portland, OR earlier this month to provide a wheelchair ramp for their presentation of Oregon filmmaker Homer Groening’s short films. The presentation is part of a four-part series titled Mid Century Oregon Genius presented by the Oregon Cartoon Institute and celebrating the artistic contributions of several Oregonians who made their film debuts in the 1960’s.

Homer Groening is the father of Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons. The presentation is curated by the Groening family and never before shared with the public in this way.

Filmmaker Bill Plympton introduced Groening’s shorts and there was a post-program discussion moderated by Lisa Groening and featuring panelists Tom Shrader, a professional colleague of Homer Groening; Ted Mahar, a friend of Homer Groening; and Plympton.

Amramp made it possible for all the presenters to have access to the stage for the post-program discussions.
