How can we help?

General

Amramp is locally owned and operated. With 50+ franchises throughout the U.S. and Canada, installers are ready to give you a customized ramp solution at your location. Find Amramp in your area >>
Once our local representative has spoken with you to understand your needs, we will arrange your onsite evaluation at a time that works best for you. A factory-trained Amramp accessibility specialist will visit during the scheduled window to discuss your specific requirements, including the spaces you need to access and the entryways involved. They will then take precise measurements to determine the optimal ramp layout and slope. You can learn how we measure here. During the evaluation, we’ll outline the proposed ramp layout so you can visualize its placement. After measuring, we will draft a preliminary sketch of the layout and send it to our estimating team to create a detailed CAD drawing. You will receive this drawing along with your full proposal within 24 hours of your estimate, barring any holidays or weekends.
Amramp provides total accessibility solutions including: Modular ramps, commercial ramps, portable and threshold ramps, stair lifts, chair lifts, pool lifts, vertical platform lifts, bathing transfer solutions, grab bars and handrails, portable showers, automatic door openers, and home modifications. See our full line of products here.

Yes, you can move or modify your ramp if needed. If you relocate, you can take all or part of your ramp with you, or adjust it by adding or shortening sections as required. Should your needs change, our modular ramps can be reconfigured to accommodate new conditions. For the best results, we recommend having our team set up the ramp at the new location to ensure proper and safe installation.

If you no longer need your ramp, Amramp offers three options for removal:
  1. Buy Back Program: We may offer to buy back your ramp.
  2. Sharing the Gift of Mobility Ramp Donation Program: Donate your ramp to benefit others in need.
  3. Removal Program: We will remove your ramp for a fee, determined by the size of your ramp and your location.

Although steel is highly durable, it can rust over time. However, like those long-lasting steel fire escapes on old brick buildings, proper maintance can keep your ramp in like-new condition for decades. To maintain its condition, we recommend:

  • Annual Touch-Ups: Use semi-gloss black exterior spray paint for light touch-ups as needed. We recommend this Rust-o-leum brand 5-in-1 protective enamel spray.
  • Avoid Salt: Salt accelerates rusting, so opt for magnesium chloride deicer, which are often also marketed as ‘pet safe’. These deicers are available at your local Amramp or hardware store.
  • Prevent Moisture Accumulation: Avoid leaving welcome mats or other items that can trap moisture on the ramp, as this can damage the finish.

Ramps

Typically, we can install a wheelchair ramp within 24-48 hours of receiving your approval, regardless of the season. Since we generally don’t require building permits or excavation, we can work in almost any weather, including winter. Most residential installations are completed in less than a day.

Our ramps are suitable for a variety of locations, including residences, businesses, schools, churches, and events. Amramp also serves the construction and commercial industries, offering ADA-compliant wheelchair ramps for both purchase and rental.
Selecting the right wheelchair ramp for your home can be challenging, as there are many factors to consider to ensure accessibility and safety. Our comprehensive Ramp Buying Guide will help you assess your needs and choose the most suitable ramp for your situation.
To design your ramp accurately, we consider several key factors when measuring your ramp: vertical rise, available distance, total usable width, and ramp length. Learn more about how we measure for ramps.

Costs vary based on the size of the wheelchair ramp and the length of time the ramp is needed. Please contact us and your local Amramp expert will provide a free estimate.

If you anticipate needing a ramp for more than 12 months, purchasing it is often more cost-effective than renting, as rental costs can exceed the purchase price. If you’re uncertain about the duration of your need, starting with a rental is a good option. Should you decide to purchase the ramp later, we will apply 75% of the rental fees toward the purchase price. Rentals are ideal for:
  • Individuals with short-term disabilities or recovering from surgery
  • Special events such as graduations, weddings, concerts, or conferences
  • Construction sites
  • Vacations

The minimum rental period depends on your location and the type of item. In some areas, you can rent our modular ramps for as little as one day. Please contact your local Amramp representative to find out the specific policies for your area.

Yes, there are several resources that can help with the cost of a ramp. We offer financing programs that might make it easier for you to manage the expense. Additionally, there are various groups and organizations, both local and national, that can help with the cost of your ramp depending on your qualifications. People who may qualify for support include veterans, people with specific disabilities, and more. These programs sometimes offer financial aid or other forms of support to help with the cost of accessibility items like ramps. It’s a good idea to explore these options to see which might be available to you. To learn more about these financial resources, visit our Financing Guide.

Stairlifts

The best type of stairlift for your staircase will depend on its shape, size, and any obstructions or other features that may be present. A straight staircase will typically require a straight stairlift, while a curved staircase will require a curved stairlift. There are also outdoor stairlifts and models that are designed to fit narrow or unusually shaped staircases. A stairlift expert can assess your staircase and help you determine the best type of stairlift to meet your needs.

The cost of a stairlift will vary depending on the type of stairlift, its features, and the installation requirements. Stairlifts can range from a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands of dollars.

The installation time for a stairlift will depend on the type of stairlift and the complexity of the installation. Straight stairlifts typically take less time to install than curved stairlifts. Installation can typically be completed within a few hours or a day. The installation process can be relatively non-disruptive, and we will take care to minimize any mess or damage to your home.

Stairlifts can be customized to meet your personal needs and preferences. Many stairlift companies offer various color and fabric options to match your home décor. You can also choose various features, such as a swivel seat, adjustable seat height, and different types of control options.

This is dependent upon the manufacturer. Your proposal will include information around the brand, model, and warranty terms.

To ensure your stairlift remains in excellent working condition, you will want to perform the following key maintenance practices:

Regular Cleaning: Keep the stairlift clean by wiping down the rail and seat with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

Check Battery: Ensure your backup battery is charged. These batteries can fail over time so contact your local Amramp for replacement when necessary.

Lubricate Moving Parts: The stairlift track requires lubrication of moving parts to maintain smooth operation.

Check for Obstructions: Ensure that the rail and stairway are free from any obstructions that could interfere with the stairlift’s operation.

Stairlift rentals are offered at some Amramp locations. Contact us to learn if your local Amramp offers rentals.
