Guide to Renting vs. Buying Wheelchair Ramps
Unsure whether renting or buying your ramp makes more sense? Start here for a simple guide outlining the benefits of each option.
OPTION 1: RENT
When to Rent a Ramp
If you anticipate needing a ramp for more than 12 months, purchasing it is often more cost-effective than renting. Renting can be a good solution for:
- Temporary Injuries: If someone is recovering from an injury and expects to regain full mobility soon
- Transitional or Rental Properties: Including temporary housing, rentals, vacation properties, or when staying with family
- Renovations: When construction or renovations are temporarily affecting access
- End-of-Life or Hospice Care: For short-term use in a hospice or end-of-life scenario where the ramp will only be needed for a limited time
- Special Events: Including weddings, graduations, family reunions, concerts, polling locations, sporting events, conferences, and other gatherings of all kinds
- Hosting Guests: When accommodating houseguests with mobility challenges
Our ramps can be rented for as little as one day and can be designed to be fully ADA-compliant.
OPTION 2: RENT TO BUY
Rent to Purchase
Unknown Need: If you're unsure of how long you'll need the ramp, Amramp's rent to purchase conversion option may work for you. You can rent the ramp without a minimum rental period, and should you decide to purchase later, we will convert a portion of your material rental payments towards the retail price of the ramp.
Additional Benefits:
- Free Evaluation: Call Amramp for a free site evaluation and estimate, whether you need the ramp for one day or more.
- Flexible Rental Costs: Costs vary based on the ramp length and rental duration, but there’s no risk in exploring your options with Amramp.
OPTION 3: BUY
When to Buy a Ramp
If you anticipate needing the ramp for more than 12 months, purchasing may cost less in the long run. You should consider buying when:
- Long-Term Accessibility Needs: You or your loved one has long-term mobility challenges (note: our ramps can be easily reconfigured should you relocate)
- Public Spaces: You operate a business and need to provide an inclusive and accessible space for patrons
- Frequent Host: You frequently have guests with accessibility needs throughout the year
- Aging In Place: You are committed to staying in your home and preventing injuries
