Amramp Awarded Training Grant for Workers

Massachusetts Lt. Governor Karyn Polito and Labor and Workforce Development Secretary Ronald L. Walker recently announced $8.9 million in Workforce Training Grant funds to encourage economic growth in the state by allowing companies to invest in their workforce with additional training.

Amramp is proud to be among the 87 companies receiving grants to help train more than 7,500 workers across the state.

Amramp, the South Boston-based wheelchair ramp and accessibility company, was awarded $62,000 to train 37 workers at their headquarters. The training will include programs to increase efficiency of the manufacturing and shipping operations as well as programs to improve customer service, time and project management, sales, marketing and accounting skills. The courses will be given by the ManageAssist, Inc., a private licensed school based in New Jersey. Training is expected to begin later this year and continue until mid 2016.

Amramp manufactures the modular wheelchair ramps at their West First Street location and distributes ramps, stair lifts, overhead patient lifts, vertical platform lifts and other accessibility products through their 45 franchise locations across the US and parts of Canada.

“We appreciate the support of the Baker-Polito Administration,” said Amramp President, Julian Gordon. “This grant will provide training for both manufacturing workers and office personnel. The training will improve the knowledge base of our workers and help to make Amramp more competitive.”

Amramp is the leading company in the United States specializing in modular steel wheelchair ramps, offering sturdy, customizable ramps for disability access that enable the aging and disabled population to remain in their homes with independence and mobility.

Ramps can be installed temporarily for short or long term needs. They are not a permanent modification and do not require footings so they can be installed in almost any type of weather.

Amramp products comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and are available for sale or rental with no minimum time frame and no ramp size restrictions.
